He is awesome!
Wow Larry.......I had a pet shrimp called Sabastine when I was living in CA. What a coincidence. But YOUR Sabastine is one of the coolest creatures I've ever seen. Blue! That's so awesome.
just happen to hop by your blog. i like your crab. nice site, too.
found your blog from a google search. how many inches is that guy, how long have you had him, how long did it take for him to grow tha big.

anonymous,
I had him for about a year now. he is about 4 inches in size. he has molted five or six times already, about every two or three months. supposely, he could get to be 7 or 8 inches in size, but i seriously doubt that mine would. he eats shrimp pellets, and if there is a dead fish, he cleans them off too. i have never caught him actually killing any of my fish, but i know he eats dead ones.
hope that helps
Does your crayfish ever stop moving for long periods of i.e. a week?
well... when he is molting, he hides and i leave him a lone, and eventually, sometimes couple of weeks, he comes out at night. they like looking for food at night. when he is getting enough food, i hardly ever see him moving around when there is light.
This may sound crazy, but I got one of these animals from a friend. Twice the crayfish played dead (no movement) on her, and since I received it it has yet to move (Three days)! I took it with the understanding that it might have expired, but she said it might also be in some stasis while molting? Any ideas?
if it's alive. if you go near it with a net, it should move...
